Get in the Mix – Blackjack Variations

By Mia Robwey.

You will always get traditionalists in any walk of life that say ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. Now in the case of blackjack, they could of course be right. Blackjack has stood the test of time for many years and it’s still one of the most popular casino table games today. However, it can’t hurt to mix things up a little from time to time and that is where blackjack variations come in handy.

Many blackjack game variations will follow the same magical recipe of classic blackjack that we all know and love, but they will put a spin on it or add a twist. Today, we’re going to discuss some of the most popular blackjack variations, what makes them different and why people like them.

Speed Blackjack

Speed Blackjack Live

We came across this version of blackjack on GG.Bet and we think it’s great. Speed Blackjack appeals to a whole host of blackjack players for several reasons. The game play is very much like Classic Blackjack which the traditionalists like. However, as you can guess it’s played at a much faster pace which will appeal to those who lead busy lives and don’t have too much time to spare.

The game begins by the dealer giving each player two cards. Once everyone has their cards, all players are offered the opportunity to hit, stand or split at the same time. The player that reacts first is then dealt their next card (if they choose hit or split) and this continues until every player has either stood or busted.

The dealer will then reveal their hand and complete their actions until they have stood or busted. Once this is completed the dealer will check the hands to see which ones have won and which have lost.

And the best part about this is that it’s all played live, via a stream to your device. That means you can interact with the dealer and in some cases the other players too.

Power Blackjack

Power Blackjack by Evolution is a fantastic alternate version of blackjack. It takes a bit of getting used to as you will need to use different strategies than the ones you would typically use in Classic Blackjack. However, once you have mastered the rules you will be blown away by this variation.

The aim of the game is still to reach 21 or to get as close as possible without busting, however, the 9’s and 10’s have been removed from the shoe. The other rule change is that if you wish to double down, you can go one or two steps further by opting to triple or quadruple down.

As we say, it takes a bit of getting used to but after playing this version, many players tend to stick with it rather than returning to more traditional forms of the game.

Vinnie Jones Blackjack

When we were first told of this blackjack variation we assumed someone was pulling our leg and playing a bit of a joke on us. However, we can confirm it is a real blackjack game. And what’s more, it’s oddly lots of fun! You don’t even have to like football to enjoy this one.

Vinnie Jones is your charming dealer and the actual gameplay is very similar to traditional blackjack, with a few extra bonus features such as the ‘6 Card Charlie’. This bonus is paid out to players who make a winning hand with six cards.

There are also other Vinnie Jones casino games available too. If you like roulette, then you simply have to give Vinnie Jones Stories Roulette a go. In this game Vinnie tells you a story from his exuberant life, every time the wheel is spun. Some of these are short facts while others will have you chuckling with laughter.

Blackjack Variations

So there you have it, blackjack variations based on speed, power and…. well Vinnie Jones! We’re not trying to steer players away from traditional blackjack as it certainly has a place within the industry. However, as technology evolves, so do our entertainment requirements, so why not use that to offer some different alternatives.
