Casino gaming is experiencing its finest era ever, thanks to technological advances that have made it more accessible and exciting than ever before. Anyone who wants to play slots or other casino games can visit sites like Buffalo Slots and start playing within minutes rather than have to check the weather and then make a journey to the nearest casino.
The greater accessibility has also seen people take more interest in casino gaming and make a hobby out of games such as poker and blackjack. The internet and online gaming sites have made learning about these and other games easier, not to mention all the books about them, and interested in learning about blackjack. Check out the books below.
Blackbelt in Blackjack
“Blackbelt in Blackjack,” by Arnold Snyder, is one of the most famous books about blackjack and has a clear focus: to equip you with an understanding that makes you serious money from the game. Even players at the highest level will appreciate this book, which provides tips on how to outdo the competition in counting and tracking backed by camouflaging aspects.
Many consider Snyder’s “Blackbelt in Blackjack” one of the most excellent books ever written about the game. The author finds blackjack an enclave of fighting sports, and in its 21 chapters, you’ll see lots of parallels with martial arts. If you want to get serious about blackjack, you need this one on your bookshelf.
Blackjack Attack
If you’re interested in the more analytical side of blackjack, “Blackjack Attack,” by Don Schlesinger, could be the one for you. This classic, which came out in 1997, addresses the mathematical side of blackjack, especially the most difficult questions around risk analysis, systems, system comparison, and more, and is another must-read. Schlesinger, a renowned gaming mathematician, lecturer, and analyst, provides tips on concealing card counting and teaming and looks at ways to increase bets.
One of the best things about this book is that Schlesinger doesn’t conduct his research in individual work. He’s cooperated with some of the biggest casino gaming stars, including Stanford Wong, Edward Thorp, Arnold Snyder, and Katarina Walker, to name just a few. This collective experience makes the book a valuable tool for learning to play blackjack.
Beat the Dealer
“Beat the Dealer,” by Edward Thorp, was first published in 1966 and will suit blackjack beginners down to the ground. It will teach them how to play the game and use lots of different strategies to win, as well as about card counting and how to detect any cheating going on at the table. The book offers a clear vision of odds and strategies using tables.
One of the other terrific things about this book is that it deals with how to be a better player away from the table. In addition to giving practical hints and tips, Thorp inspires the reader with gripping anecdotes and tales of his own blackjack success.
The World’s Greatest Blackjack Book
Are you looking for something more comprehensive on blackjack? “The World’s Greatest Blackjack Book,” by Lance Humble and Carl Cooper, delivers. Humble was a professional blackjack player and a seasoned expert in gambling who has also expanded his expertise to other casino games, and Cooper is a consultant and coach. The two combine their considerable knowledge and experience, producing a book full of practical knowledge and educational insight.
This book covers everything from basic memory aids for strategy to betting systems, card counting, interactions with the dealer, and the psychological aspects of playing in a casino. Cooper’s and Humble’s purpose in writing the book was to create a guide that offers strategies and to demystify some of the complexities of blackjack. It’s an excellent resource for any player, whether beginner or advanced and is packed with anecdotes to make it informative and entertaining.
Big Book of Blackjack
The vastly knowledgeable Arnold Snyder is back in this one and packs information about blackjack by the sack load into this one. In the first few chapters, Snyder covers the history of blackjack from the Middle Ages to the expansion of casinos. Then, in the second section, he gets down to business with a discussion of strategy, card counting, beating side bets, and more before moving on to the blackjack battlefield section. That means techniques that give players the advantage of beating, cheating, and teaming. The final section is more miscellaneous, including the Blackjack Hall of Fame, a Q and A, and, bravely, even some blackjack poetry!
Blackjack is one of the most entertaining casino games and has inspired players to write engaging, precious books about how to play the game and win. If you’re looking to learn more about blackjack, other titles to keep an eye out for include “Dynamic Blackjack,” by Maverick Sharp, “Basic Blackjack,” “Blackjack Secrets” and “Professional Blackjack,” all by Stanford Wong.1)EDITOR NOTE: All of the books mentioned in this article are highly recommended by me.
