Double Down When Appropriate

This should be a golden rule of any blackjack strategy. Put in simple terms, the idea here is to make hay while the sun is shining. Do not push it. If you have done well and you start to see your pot dwindling, don’t keep pushing, be sensible. Set yourself financial boundaries both in terms of winnings and losses so that if you reach a point of no return in either direction, then you’ll know when to call it a day.

Follow an Easy to Follow Blackjack Basic Strategy

Base your bets on what the dealer is presenting to you and adjust according to the dealer’s up-card. If your dealer has a ten, then you know you’ll probably need a strong hand to beat him.  Similarly, if the dealer has a poor up-card, such as a five or six, then you should push your advantage but also clearly pay attention to what you have. 

For example, you will often be standing with a poor hand when you see the dealer with a small card.  The hope here is to allow the dealer to bust (go over 21).  These type of decisions are called blackjack basic strategy.

Don’t Worry About Your Fellow Players

Remember, the object of the game is to beat the dealer.  What other players have isn’t really your concern.  The actions of other players at the table won’t affect the odds one bit.  Clearly, it may have an impact on what cards are available but remember you should be concerned about your hand and that of the dealer. You have no control over what other players do; only your own game matters.
